The Colorado State University Pueblo Library actively develops and empowers the campus community by integrating information literacy across the curriculum and providing collections, spaces, and services that facilitate learning, research, and innovation for a diverse and inclusive community. The Library actively collaborates with Information Technology Services (IT), tutoring services, and other units to provide integrated academic support for students.

Description of Job
**All responsibilities of faculty members at CSU Pueblo are in accordance with the Faculty Handbook. The Faculty Handbook is the authoritative guide on specific requirements with regard to teaching assignments, scholarly activity, research, and service.

The University Archivist works closely with the local community to develop and promote relevant collections, particularly the Colorado Chicano Movement Archives. The Archivist facilitates the community-driven acquisition, digitization, and preservation of, as well as access to, archival materials. The position develops and oversees a small Special Collections area including rare books and manuscripts, consults with other departments across campus to ensure the University complies with state guidelines for the retention, preservation, and disposal of important documents, and collects, organizes, preserves, and provides access to both print and electronic University administrative and historical records.

As a member of the library faculty, the Archivist may also be involved and engaged in the entire life-cycle of research, teaching and learning, and outreach processes, including reference and collection development.

The Archivist may have the opportunity to teach credit-bearing courses in archives management.
 
Primary Duties
Manage University Archives and Special Collections

Develop new and existing special collections; especially the University’s Colorado Chicano Movement Archives (CCMA)
Manage current and potential donor relations
Using current technology and software, obtain, inventory, process, organize, preserve and provide access to archival materials, including creating finding aids for archival collections
Expand existing oral history program
Identify, develop, and supervise digitization projects, including developing standards, digitizing records, creating metadata using appropriate metadata schema
Insert collections into institutional repository
Consult and collaborate with units across campus to ensure records retention and management for all University departments complies with the state records retention schedule.
Provide one-on-one reference assistance in the Archives and via email, chat, text, and phone
Engage in Outreach
Facilitate the CCMA Community Advisory Committee
Collaborate with the community to promote the CCMA
Plan community outreach events and educational sessions
Promote the Archives and the Aztlán Research Center locally, regionally, and nationally
Develop partnerships with other local and regional centers with similar research agendas
Manage student workers and interns
Supervise student interns
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student assistants
Collaborate with Faculty to provide instruction and promote research including:
Teach sessions on the use of archives for various classes across the curriculum
Collaborate with the Chicano Studies Coordinator to engage students in archival research and oral history collection
Promote faculty and student research that augments the collections
Performs sustained inquiry into one’s discipline, leading to a practical application within the library as well as research resulting in published or presented scholarly output.
Serves the library, the university, and the profession through active membership on boards, committees, panels, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA accredited) or related archives discipline
Preferred Qualifications
ALA accredited Masters in Library Science if first Master’s degree is not MLS
Masters or PhD in discipline related to Chicanx, Indigenous, Ethnic, or Southwest Studies
Academy of Certified Archivists Certification
Demonstrated knowledge of Chicano Studies or Southwest Studies 
Experience in a position requiring collaboration with diverse groups and effective communication of ideas
Demonstrated planning and leadership skills, with prior experience requiring working independently, take initiative, and setting goals and priorities
3 years professional experience post-degree
Experience building community-based archives
Experience working with Chicanx/Latinx community groups
Experience managing an archives in an institution of higher education or equivalent 
Experience with digitization and metadata creation 
Experience managing records retention
Experience managing oral history collection projects
Teaching/Library Instruction experience
Experience seeking and acquiring external funding 
Experience managing grants 
Experience at a regional comprehensive university 
Experience at a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI)
