Responsibilities 
•The Assistant Manager assists the Records Preservation Manager in administering the records management program per the Denton County Records Management Program Resolution
•Work involves providing consultative services, training, and technical assistance to staff, other county departments, and elected officials

•The Assistant Manager is required to provide excellent customer service, resolve problems promptly, communicate effectively, and positively contribute to Denton County
•This position is responsible for acting in the capacity of the Records Preservation Manager in their absence
•Assists with managing and monitoring Denton County Records Management Program policies, procedures, and records control schedules; makes recommendations on changes and improvements to the program
•Under the direction of the Records Preservation Manager, oversees and manages records management software and databases
•This includes providing end-user assistance and troubleshooting user or system issues
•Researches, analyzes, and recommends strategies and actions necessary to plan, develop, and implement an electronic records program for the preservation of electronic records generated by Denton County departments in accordance with State law and County Records Policy
•Supervises Records Management staff by prioritizing, assigning, and evaluating work
•Assists with the management of employee performance by providing guidance, training, feedback, and by conducting employee performance evaluations
•Responds to employee leave requests and leads or assists with the employee selection process for Records Management positions
•The Assistant Manager is expected to mentor Records Management team members and facilitate the professional development of individual employees by sharing knowledge of records management standards, news, and concepts
•Supports the Records Preservation Manager with reviewing staff work product to ensure requirements and compliance standards have been met per the Denton County Records Management Program Resolution, Texas Local Government Code, and federal and state laws
•Reviews work product for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required standards
•Supervises and participates in quality control checks of Records Management work product, as directed by the Records Preservation Manager
•Assists the Records Preservation Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental goals and objectives
•Ensures work is prioritized with these goals and objectives in mind
•Follows all County security and privacy policies and best practices to protect county information and assets within employees' control
•Assists with maintaining backup of programs and data files
•Assists with developing appropriate security measures to ensure integrity of information
•Serves as a resource to County departments, vendors, and citizens for records management topics or challenges
•Uses records management knowledge and expertise to provide sound guidance on these topics and uses good judgment to escalate complex issues or questions to the Records Preservation Manager
•Advises and consults with Denton County departments on matters related to records management, under the guidance of the Records Preservation Manager and in accordance with the Denton County Records Management Program
•Assists in preparing reports and budget requests
•May be required to perform purchasing duties in accordance with all County purchasing policies and procedures
•Researches, writes, and/or prepares training materials for Denton County departments and Elected Officials
•Conducts special projects as assigned and represents the division on working groups and committees
•Follows County policies and best practices related to privacy and information security; exercises sound judgment to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Denton County computer systems and information; supports compliance with CJIS, HIPAA, and other information security regulations
•Ensures all Records Management employees adhere to these same standards
•Displays and reflects the culture, mission, vision, values, and direction of the department; inspires enthusiasm, belief, commitment, and excitement in subordinates
•Regular and punctual attendance is required
