About This Role:

The Richard L. D. and Marjorie J. Morse Department of Special Collections at Kansas State University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of University Records Manager. The University Records Manager serves as the university’s records officer and as an advisor to Libraries and university administration, departments, and offices in the development of K-State’s records and information management (RIM) program. Reporting to the University Archivist, the University Records Manager establishes RIM policies and procedures, including retention and disposition processes, communicates knowledge of RIM and archival theory and practice, and conveys complex records issues to diverse constituencies. The Records Manager will maintain a robust/effective and adaptive training program for university personnel and work closely with administrative and academic offices to ensure proper scheduling of records, perform surveys of records, and monitor compliance. Provides expertise in accepted standards and best practices of records administration, creation and maintenance of current university records in all formats, record lifecycle-based processes and workflows, and compliance with university policies and federal and state law regarding retention and disposition of active and inactive records. They will also Support the University Archivist to meet reference, outreach, and processing needs of university archives.

This is a full-time, tenure-track academic appointment carrying full faculty status and responsibilities. The candidate must have a commitment to scholarly/creative activities and professional service necessary for pursuing tenure at Kansas State University Libraries. To be successful in this position, the incumbent must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues in an environment where flexibility and collaboration are essential.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program
Demonstrated experience in records management and/or archival administration
Knowledge of laws and ethics that inform records management activities in a public records environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex records management issues to diverse constituencies across campus
Demonstrated experience providing effective reference services
Proven skill at collaborating in a team environment and in working independently
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver user-oriented services to stakeholders
Proven capacity to embrace change, prioritize and organize effectively, and to show judgement, creativity, and initiative in accomplishing job duties and solving problems
Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Records Manager and/or Certification from the Academy of Certified Archivists
Knowledge of Research Data Management
Relevant experience in a higher education environment
