Job Summary - The CAP Archivist is responsible for developing and maintaining the CAP Archives.

 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

CAP Archives Oversight:

Ensure the ongoing development of an archival collection documenting CAP programs and activities.
Facilitate acquisition, arrangement, description, preservation, and access to physical and born-digital materials.
Establish policies and procedures for managing records preserved in the Archives.
Administer and create guidelines for the Archives collection management system.
Acquire appropriate documents for the Archives collection from CAP staff and members.
Inventory Archives supplies and make recommendations for selection and purchase of necessary material.
Provide budget input to achieve the goals of the Archives.
 

Institutional Support and Outreach:

Provide reference and consultation support for staff using the Archives collection.
Serve as the subject matter expert for members, staff, and outside researchers regarding the history and development of the CAP.
Create and coordinate exhibitions, outreach activities, and publications to promote the use of the Archives and inform CAP members, staff, and the public about specific programs or services.

·         Works independently or as a member of a team to produce high- quality and timely results

·         Willingness to contribute to the varying work demands of the Governance Services and Executive Operations team outside of the traditional Archivist role, as needed

 

Technical:

·         Knowledge of current and emerging standards and best practices for preserving and providing access to physical and digital materials

·         Experience working with Dublin Core, MARC, DACS, or other standards used in archival repositories

·         Experience working with indexing platforms to conduct reference searches

·         Experience working with digital asset management software applications

·         Experience with archives collection management systems

·         Familiarity with web archiving tools and methods

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

·         Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat

 

Education:

Master’s degree in library/information science or equivalent with substantial course work or training in administration of archival collections.
 

Experience:

At least four years of professional-level related experience required.
Certification:

Academy of Certified Archivists certification
