Position: Manager – Special Collections
Pay Rate: $65,000 – $85,000 annually DOQ
Terms of Employment: Full time (40 hours/week)

The Rosenberg Library in Galveston, Texas seeks a creative and innovative Archivist or Librarian to manage and lead the Special Collections Department, consisting of the Galveston & Texas History Center and the Rosenberg Library Museum.

Job Description
Duties of this position include, but not limited to, the following:

Manages the History Center and Museum staff to ensure efficient operations, proper care of collections and quality customer service.
Actively promotes and manages the migration of departmental holdings and indexes to digital format to facilitate accessibility of historical records for library patrons.
Plans and implements public programming activities such as lectures, special displays, exhibit openings, online exhibits, film series, guided tours, book discussion series and related educational programs.
Establishes and maintains partnerships with community and state organizations to promote awareness of the library’s collections and services. Actively seeks ways to collaborate with other departments within the library on various projects and initiatives.
Actively promotes and manages the migration of departmental holdings and indexes to digital format to facilitate accessibility of historical records for library patrons.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited university, plus five (5) years as a professional librarian, two (2) years of which as a lead or supervisor.

Master’s degree in History/Public History with coursework in archival administration, or a Master’s degree in a related field, may substitute for the required Master’s degree in Library or Information Science.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional graduate degree in History or related field.
Certified Archivist.
Working knowledge of Cuadra Star, Eloquent or other archives management software.
Demonstrated ability to analyze managerial problems, make recommendations, and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
Grant writing and administration experience.
Bilingual (Spanish).
