ACA + NAGARA
ACA Partners with NAGARA to Support Professional Development and Recertification
|
More Ways to Learn, Engage, and Maintain Your CA
Through ACA’s new Affiliate Partnership with the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA), Certified Archivists have expanded access to relevant professional development, stronger connection to peers across archives and records management, and a more accessible way to engage with NAGARA’s programs and community.
|
CAs gain expanded visibility into NAGARA webinars, online forums, conference sessions, and workshops that may be relevant to ACA continuing education and professional growth.
Under ACA’s Recertification Petition Guidelines, attendance at seminars, workshops, institutes, webinars, and professional archival meetings may be submitted under the Education category, with credit awarded based on instructional time or educational session time.
Beyond attending, NAGARA also offers opportunities to present, teach, contribute to programming, and engage with peers in ways that may be submitted under ACA’s Instruction, Professional Participation, and Engagement category, depending on the nature of the activity and the role performed.
This partnership connects Certified Archivists with professionals working across archives and records management at the federal, state, and local levels, helping strengthen professional visibility, exchange, and collaboration.
Attendance at webinars, seminars, workshops, institutes, and conference sessions may be submitted under the Education category, with 0.5 credits awarded per hour of instruction or educational session, up to 30 credits maximum.
Teaching or leading a seminar, workshop, institute, or webinar on archival theory, methods, or practice earns 1 credit per hour of instruction. Other presentation roles may also be submitted for credit under this category, up to 30 credits maximum.
ACA allows 1 credit per year for membership in one professional archival or allied organization, up to 5 credits per recertification cycle. Participation in organizations like NAGARA can support this component of your petition. Membership in ACA itself is not eligible for recertification credit.
